Rafting on the Martha Brae

Settle onto a two-seat bamboo raft while your captain poles you three miles downriver, bamboo arching overhead most of the way.

The ride starts at Rafter's Village and runs a quiet three miles in about an hour and a quarter — no engine, just the pole finding the riverbed. Ask your captain about the limestone foot-and-leg scrub partway down; it's their own side trade, paid in small bills, and the river rinse afterwards is half the point. Miss Martha's herb garden at the village is worth ten minutes before you push off.
